Exciting Events Planned for Homecoming 2011
At least eight reunions are in the works for this year’s Forever Red & Blue 2011 Homecoming festivities, which will be held October 28 and 29.
Samford will welcome back the classes of 1961, 1986 and 2001 for their reunions. Joe McDade ’61 is the 2011 Alumni of the Year, and Mrs. Kitty Rogers Brown ’01 is recognized as the 2011 Outstanding Young Alumna.
On Saturday October 28, the Classics Department holds its cookout on the Quad. The Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing has its alumni barbecue on the plaza level of the Healing Arts Center. The Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education will be around the grill at the education building and plaza. All three food fests go from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Also, Samford’s band alumni will meet at Brock Recital Hall at 8 a.m. Saturday. The McWhorter School of Pharmacy will meet Saturday at 11 a.m. on the Quad. They are featuring reunions from the Classes of 1981, 1986, 1991, 2001 and 2006.
Homecoming festivities this year also include special honorees. Samford’s Journalism and Mass Communications department will hold its Wall of Fame ceremony honoring those who have made a meaningful and significant difference in the lives of its students through the years at Bolding Studio beginning at 11:15 a.m.
Members of the Cornerstone Program, Alpha Phi Omega and Omicron Delta Kappa also have reunions planned.
