Office of Alumni Programs Works to Reach Young Alumni
David Goodwin, director of alumni programs, has announced an expansion of Samford's efforts to reach young alumni. Samford defines "young" as those who graduated up to 10 years ago.
"We know that connecting with other alums is really important for Samford folks. As our students graduate and many move away from campus, we want to help them connect and build relationships," Goodwin said.
The alumni office has expanded the Birmingham Young Alumni Board and launched a similar group for the greater Atlanta area. The goal is to keep young alumni engaged with Samford as they move into their careers. The office is also working with young alums to launch a group in Nashville, Tenn. "These are our three largest cities, and we hope to expand further in the months ahead," Goodwin said.
The alumni office believes hosting young alumni boards in these cities, reaching alumni throughout the year and hosting reunions as part of homecoming for the first year, fifth year and 20th year will help keep alumni involved throughout their lives. Those interested in serving on the board in Birmingham, Atlanta or Nashville should contact David Goodwin to learn more at david.goodwin@samford.edu.
An event for young alumni in Birmingham is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 20. An event for young alumni in Atlanta is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25.
