Alumni Office Introduces 2010-11 Young Alumni Board

In August 2009, the Alumni Office announced a seven member Young Alumni Board (YAB,) organized to help keep recent alums involved in the life of the University.

In it’s second year the group has grown to twenty board members, including fifteen new to the group for this year. “To increase the group from seven to twenty after the first year is a great example of the enthusiasm these young people have for Samford," said university president Andrew Westmoreland. "Samford needs this group to stay connected and involved.”

In the group's first year, 2007 alumnus Katie Murnane, a local accountant, served as chair. "Her dedication to the group provided a solid foundation for alums to stay connected with Samford events for years to come," said Alagasco Engineering Representative and incoming YAB chair C. G. Covey `08.

New Board members are recruited each summer and are asked to serve for one year, with the option to renew. Many members of the YAB are grad students, teachers, health professionals, accountants, marketing & public relations professionals or higher education professionals.
