Law, Pharmacy Welcome More Than 300 For Orientation

Samford's Cumberland School of Law and McWhorter School of Pharmacy are welcoming their latest first-year students to orientation this week.

On Sunday, 178 law students arrived on campus from 17 states and 66 universities. Their orientation activities include a picnic and addresses by Cumberland administrators and faculty. Lenora W. Pate of Birmingham's Sirote and Permutt law firm and president of the Cumberland National Alumni Association spoke at an orientation luncheon Monday. The students are spending the rest of the week learning how to analyze cases for class assignments.

On Tuesday, 128 pharmacy students began their own orientation. They represent 13 states, four foreign countries and 57 different colleges and universities. In addition to basic orientation to school policies and procedures, the students will participate in discussions on professionalism and experiential training and take part in team building activities.
