Black To Serve As Acting Dean of Admission
Samford announced this week that Jason Black, currently Director of New Student Orientation and Campus Visits, will serve as Acting Dean of Admission, effective July 1.
Former Dean of Admission Phil Kimrey was promoted to Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management in February. The Dean of Admission search committee, comprised of faculty, staff and students, has not yet selected someone to lead the university's undergraduate recruitment efforts. Black will temporarily lead those efforts as well as the admission and scholarship review processes.
"Jason has been instrumental in leading our campus visit events and activities, especially Preview Days and Scholar's Day, coordinating numerous positive changes to the new student orientation sessions, and leads both the Student Recruitment Team and Orientation Leaders," Kimrey said. "Given the critical nature of enrollment for Samford, we believe Jason Black can help our campus at this important stage."
