Only One Official, Active Alumni Facebook Page, Says Goodwin
Samford Director of Alumni & Parents Programs David Goodwin invites alumni and other friends to take part in the Samford University Alumni Association Facebook page, the only official Samford alumni Facebook page.
"Facebook is an online resource more and more people are using," Goodwin said. "Obviously, we want to reach Samford alumni, parents and students every way we can." He noted that although there are many Facebook pages related to Samford, most are unofficial, casual meeting places without updated content. Goodwin said his office will be updating the official page often, providing event information and recognition of alumni serving in leadership roles.
Goodwin said his office has already made many new connections through Facebook. The alumni office and data administrators on campus are building an online program that will allow alumni to update their own information and re-connect with friends through a searchable database based at the www.samford.edu web site. "I hope Samford's Web for Alumni will be a tool our alumni will be excited to use," Goodwin said. Until then, they keep in touch through Facebook (follow link below).
