Baseball Travels To Tallahassee For NCAA Regional
The Samford baseball team will take on Mississippi State as the No. 3 seed in the first round of the Tallahassee Regional of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, the NCAA announced on Monday.
Samford's first-round game against No. 2-seeded Mississippi State will start at 11 a.m. (CT) and will be broadcast on ESPN3.
"This is an exciting time for our program," Samford head coach Casey Dunn said. "I am excited for that group of kids, they've done a great job. For all of the guys who have been here to help build this program to this point, this is a great accomplishment."
Host Florida State earned the No. 1 seed in the regional, and the Seminoles will take on the No. 4 seed, UAB in the first round on Friday at 5 p.m. (CT).
Samford earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament bid by winning the Southern Conference Tournament on Sunday with a 9-6, 10-inning win over Georgia Southern. The Bulldogs averaged 10 runs per game in the tournament and boast both the nation's home run leader in Brandon Miller along with the country's wins leader in Josh Martin. Samford enters the tournament with a record of 39-21.
Mississippi State won the Southeastern Conference Tournament with a 3-0 win over Vanderbilt on Sunday. MSU enters the NCAA Tournament with a record of 39-22.
