Hawn to Lead Free Music Workshops April 20-22
Samford University's School of the Arts will present "Singing a 21st Century Faith," a series of free public workshops featuring noted music educator Michael Hawn April 20-22. Hawn is University Distinguished Professor of Church Music at Southern Methodist University and Director of SMU's Master of Sacred Music Program.
The first workshop, "You Are What You Sing, " on expanding sung theology, will be 9 a.m.-12 p.m. April 20 in Brock Recital Hall at Samford.
The "Global Song for Local Congregations" workshop, exploring the music of other cultures, will be 9 a.m.-12 p.m. April 21 at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church (accompanying songbook is $7.95).
The final workshop, "The Lord's Prayer: A Global Perspective," is a free festival of congregational singing beginning at 4 p.m. in Samford's Reid Chapel.
