Morris Named Coach Of The Year
Samford head women's basketball coach Mike Morris was named the Southern Conference's Coach of the Year by the Southern Conference Sports Media Association (SCSMA) when the organization released its postseason honors March 2.
Morris has led his team this season to a 21-6 overall and record and a 16-4 SoCon record. The Bulldogs finished second in the conference in the regular season after being picked fourth in the preseason.
The 16 wins are the most conference wins in a season in program history. Samford has won at least 21 games in three of the last four seasons, and have averaged over 20 wins per season over the last four years.
This honor marks the second Coach of the Year award for Morris. He was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Coach of the Year in 2006.
