Samford to Exhibit Paintings of Jürgen Tarrasch Jan. 30-Feb. 21

Samford Art Gallery will exhibit the fresco paintings of Jürgen Tarrasch Jan. 30-Feb. 21, with a reception for the artist 4-6 p.m. Feb. 21. The exhibit and reception are free-of-charge and open to the public. Samford Art Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday (closed holidays and school breaks).

Tarrasch, who comes to Samford as part of the Visiting Visual Artists Series, works as a painter and a conservator of wall treatments and interiors, including fresco. He received his MFA degree with a focus on painting from the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, Poland in 1993. He also studied at the European Center for Conservation and Historic Preservation in Venice, Italy.

Tarrasch and his wife moved to Birmingham in 1999 where he established a studio at Wade Sand and Gravel. Since then he has exhibited his artwork widely in this country and in Europe.

Also as part of the Visiting Visual Artists Series, Tarrasch will make his studio available to Samford art students and offer a fresco workshop.
