London Named SoCon Player Of The Week

Samford junior guard Emily London was named the Southern Conference's Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's basketball awards Jan 12.

In two SoCon games in the past week, London averaged 28 points and eight rebounds per game. She shot 58.6 percent from the field, including 64.3 percent from three-point range.

In Saturday night's game at Davidson, London set a Samford record with 35 points. She also grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists against the Wildcats.

London posted her first career double-double in Monday evening's win at Appalachian State. She scored 21 points and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds against the Mountaineers.

London, a native of Lexington, Ky., leads the Bulldogs and ranks second in the SoCon in scoring this season, averaging 16.3 points per game. She also leads the league in three-point field goal percentage at 52.9 percent, and she ranks second in free throw percentage at 90.0 percent and three-point field goals made per game at 2.6 per contest.

London and the Bulldogs will next play on Monday, Jan. 18, when they play host to Western Carolina. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start from the Pete Hanna Center.
