State Middle, High School Students To Form Samford Honor Bands This Week
Hundreds of state middle school and high school musicians will be at Samford University this week to form Samford's annual Honor Bands.
Each of four bands--two middle school and two high school--will consist of 90-100 students considered the top musicians in their home programs.
The students will arrive on campus Thursday, Jan. 7 and audition for chair placement that afternoon. After intensive rehearsals all day Friday and Saturday morning, the bands will perform at 2:30 p.m. in Samford's Wright Center Concert Hall. Organizers said the program will proceed as scheduled in spite of expected snow on Thursday.
The Saturday concert is free of charge and open to the public.
