Parents
During the spring 2007 semester, many administrative processes for students, staff, and faculty have been moved to a new system called Banner. With the opening of the April 2007 registration for the Summer and Fall 2007 terms, most students will be registering themselves for classes by accessing the Banner System. Each undergraduate student will be required to meet with their advisors before they can register for classes in Banner. Every student has been assigned a SUid which is a 9 character number (example 900000000) that will be their permanent student identification number at Samford as we move away from using the Social Security Number as the identifier for the student. The Social Security number is still stored on the student's record due to reporting for such areas as Financial Aid and Work Study, but it will not be the main identifier any longer for the student.
Through this website, e-mails, postcards, letters and the University student newspaper, students are being made aware of Banner Self-Service, what the system has to offer, and how to best use it. Students have also been involved in testing various aspects of the system. Their suggestions have facilitated the development and implementation of Banner.
