We Happy Few by Imogen Stubbs
Oct. 8–10, 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 11, 2:30 p.m.
Harrison Theatre
We Happy Few follows a seven-woman amateur troupe through Britain’s schools and village greens during World War II playing a repertoire of Shakespeare and other classics. Disasters happen and triumphs occur, but above all, the show must go on. We Happy Few is frequently hilarious, often touching, and features the laughter through tears in which the British specialize. Imogen Stubbs, herself an acclaimed Shakespearean actress, says of the woman who founded the company: “Her chief weapons were a dogged determi- nation, a courageous heart and Shakespeare.”

Richard III by William Shakespeare
Nov. 16, 18, 20, 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 22, 2:30 p.m.
Harrison Theatre
After a long civil war between the royal families of York and Lancaster, England enjoys a period of peace under King Edward IV and the victorious Yorks. But Edward’s younger brother, Richard, resents Edward’s power and the happiness of those around
him. Malicious, power-hungry and bitter about his physical deformity, Richard aspires
secretly to the throne. What follows is murder, mayhem and—believe it or not—romance. Richard III is one of Shakespeare’s most terrifyingly brilliant villains. Thoughtful, poetic and action packed, Richard III is considered great theatre by both fans of the Bard and those who enjoy a political thriller of the first order.
