Richard III

by William Shakespeare
After a long civil war between the royal families of York and Lancaster, England enjoys a period of peace under King Edward IV and the victorious Yorks. But Edward’s younger brother, Richard, resents Edward’s power and the happiness of those around him. Malicious, power-hungry and bitter about his physical deformity, Richard aspires secretly to the throne. What follows is murder, mayhem and—believe it or not—romance. Richard III is one of Shakespeare’s most terrifyingly brilliant villains. Thoughtful, poetic and action packed, Richard III is considered great theatre by both fans of the Bard and those who enjoy a political thriller of the first order.
