 Music

General music scholarships are available to students pursuing an academic major in music based upon their auditions for the School of the Arts. Music majors can also be considered for band scholarships in addition to music major scholarships; students who would play an instrument in Marching Band other than their primary performance area can arrange a time to audition for a band scholarship during the School of the Arts audition and interview weekends or schedule a band scholarship audition at another time.

Band scholarships are available to students of all academic majors who will participate in the Marching Band and either the Wind Ensemble or Symphonic Band. Interested students are encouraged to contact Director of Bands Dr. Jim Smisek (jjsmisek@samford.edu or 205-726-2485) to arrange an audition.  More information can be obtained on the Samford Bands website: http://band.samford.edu.

Other theatre scholarships made possible through the generosity of our alumni are also available.

     Visual Arts

Scholarships are available to students pursuing majors in fine art and graphic design through electronic portfolio reviews.  All portfolios and School of the Arts application materials can be submitted by mail or submitted electronically; an on-campus interview or portfolio review is not part of the scholarship consideration process.

Portfolio reviews are for art major scholarship consideration only and are not required for admission to the School of the Arts as an art or graphic design major.

Students are encouraged but not required to attend Art Day on Saturday, November 14, to learn more about opportunities available in the Art Department and to take two worshops taught by the professors.  Additional information about Art Day will be posted here in October; information can also be obtained from Art Department Chair Larry Thompson (lthompso@samford.edu).
