Scholarships

From High School

Air Force ROTC scholarships are extremely competitive. To ensure you are a top candidate make sure that you have the highest GPA possible, score well on the ACT or SAT, stay physically fit to pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), and apply and get accepted to an AFROTC university, such as Samford or University of Alabama at Birmingham. You may compete for a four or three year scholarship which covers tuition, fees, a book stipend, and provides a monthly nontaxable allowance. Scholarship packets and information may be obtained from your high school counselor or by contacting the Samford AFROTC unit. The deadline to apply is December 1st so APPLY EARLY. Since these requirements can change check the link below to find out the current requirements or contact the detachment by going to the Contact Info tab on the top of this page.

In College

If you are already a college student you may compete for a 2 or 3 year scholarship that provides similar benefits to the scholarships offered to high school students, including all the same monies, i.e. tuition, stipend, and books. To apply, contact the Air Force detachment during your freshman or sophomore years of college. Selection is based on scores achieved on the Air Force Officer's Qualifying Test (AFOQT), cumulative grade-point average, and performance on a physical fitness test. The best way to ensure you're a candidate is to perform your best in school and talk to some cadets in the program as well to help guide you to where you need to go, of course the detachment Unit Admissions Officer is always available on campus to answer any questions and help you on your way
