America Reads and America Counts Program

Samford University students who qualify for the Federal Work Study Community Service Program have the opportunity to work off campus in the America Reads Program or the America Counts Program during the fall and spring semesters.

The purpose of the America Reads Program is to ensure that every child can read well and independently by the end of the third grade. To achieve this goal, qualified Samford University students are trained as reading tutors to work individually with elementary children (K-3) in over-the-mountain, rural, and inner city schools each week.
